Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are you insured?
A:
Yes.  For my protection and yours, I have liability insurance and health insurance.

Q: My dog got banned from the kennel...
A:
I'm accustomed to handling and caring for dogs which "don't play well with others" and which require special attention while out in our urban environment.

Q: How far ahead of time should I schedule pet sitting?
A: It's never too early but often too late.  I recommend that you contact me as soon as you realize that you'll need help, even if that's months in advance!

Q: My pet has "issues."  Will that be a problem for you?

A: Probably not.  I'm used to working with animals which have been abused, have fear or aggression issues, are old or sick, don't do well around other pets, and which require extra patience and understanding.

Q: Do you pet sit for cats?
A: Yes, I pet sit for cats, dogs, fish, gerbils, birds, snakes....

Q: What experience do you have in caring for pets with special health concerns?
A:  I've worked with animals dealing with health problems such as recent surgeries, arthritis, hip dysplasia, deafness, blindness, incontinence, diabetes, hypothyroidism, cancer, infections, cataracts, torn ACLs, and auto-immune diseases.

Q: Can you provide references?
A: Of course!  I have scores of great local references and stand behind every job I do.  If you'd like to speak to some of my current or previous customers,  just contact me and ask for a recent list.

Q: Can I meet you before deciding to hire you?
A: Of course.  If you're considering hiring me to do some pet sitting, we'll arrange a convenient time for me to meet you and your pets at your house.  It's a free, no-obligation meeting.

Q: What if I hire you to walk my dog, but he's such a good guard dog that he won't let you in the house?
A: That's a concern commonly expressed by dog owners, but I haven't been "kept out" yet.

Q: Do you do "overnight" pet sitting?
A: No.  I can check on your pets in the early morning, throughout the day, and at night, but I don't stay in your home overnight.

If you want to hire an overnight sitter, I encourage you to contact me and tell me what you're looking for.  I know of several overnight pet sitters in the area, and I'd be happy to recommend one based upon your situation and location.

Q: Will you be walking my dog along with other customers' dogs at the same time?
A: No.  I don't walk dogs from different households at the same time.

Q: Will you help train my dog?
A: I'll be happy to help reinforce good behavior and basic obedience through positive-reinforcement training.  Beyond that, I'll be happy to refer you to a good local trainer.
